Environmental Inequality in Silicon Valley - This was my first attempt at placing maps created with a GIS on the WWW. Here you will find TRI maps (facilities, pounds of release, number of facilities and demographic maps (% Latino, % African-American, % Asian-American, % other, % White, % renter occupied, median income, and population density). History - Andrew Szasz, Ph.D. and I first began doing research on environmental justice in Los Angeles County using TRI data and census data. At the time GIS was not yet readily available on the desktop so we did very little mapping.
Once this project was completed we focused our efforts on Silicon Valley. I used ArcView® to do the mapping of TRI facilities and demographics at the census tract level. This was also Aran Clary's first foray into cgi programming. These maps have been on the WWW for over three years along with an environmental justice bibliography.
If you have comments, questions about any of the above projects, or if you would like to discuss a potential project please contact me.
